fusion-pilates-edu-logo1In this workshop with Tom McCook you will gain experiential knowledge and practical understanding of the relationship between the spine and the shoulder girdle in movement to support healthy movement and life-long well being. Tom will blend a Franklin Method lesson on the Spine and Shoulder Girdle with related Pilates equipment repertoire for optimal learning and skill development. This workshop will help you to understand movement and effective cuing in a whole new way! You’ll expand your understanding through touch, movement and lecture, the bone and muscle relationships of the shoulder girdle and spine. Specifically, where movement actually happens in the spine and how to use touch, imagery and movement to improve function. This is essential for tension release, postural improvements, strength, flexibility and greater efficiency of movement. We will combine the lessons with related Franklin Method ball exercises, corrective mat exercises and Pilates repertoire on the Tower, Reformer and Chair for health and performance. These is essential learning for both students and teachers lifelong wellness. CECs available!

matts for mutts2Not sure what to do with your old beat-up yoga mat? Donate it! Dr. Lorrie Clemens of Woodside Veterinary Clinic (pictured in the center with her dog Astro) can put old yoga mats to good use for animals under her care - as warm bedding for their cages, as a non-slippery surface for them to walk on, as cushioning. We decided with our studio move to trade out all our old mats and give them a new purpose at Lorrie's Clinic!

Using movement and meditation as a foundation to get focused and present, we'll look at what it means to be balanced in our individual lives. We'll look at the specific areas of work, play, inspiration and body care and the importance of establishing a personal plan in these areas every week. We will take time each week to identify ways to create freedom and to experience momentum in our lives. We'll learn how to ask for what we want and need in order to move through life with more balance, freedom, clarity and grace. The format includes movement, meditation and coaching. Movement practices will incorporate Franklin Method, Pilates, Yoga, Resistance Stretching. Requires a 3 month commitment.

Navigate and celebrate the many changes in your body as you prepare for your new baby! This specialized group for pregnant women offers a conditioning-based workout on the Pilates equipment, with emphasis on awareness and activation of the pelvic floor. You'll learn valuable tools to address posture and balance issues, plus support the transformation of your body during pregnancy and the post-natal healing process.

Call the studio at 650-967-6414 to sign up! Some movement experience required. Please no high risk pregnancies or acute injuries.

This group is ongoing and your spot will be reserved weekly for continued learning and progress.
