What is chiropractic care?
Chiropractic care is a gentle and natural hands-on approach to improving alignment of the spine, pelvis, and extremities. Creating better alignment and symmetry will improve the function of your nervous system, allowing it to perform clearly and optimally.
Chiropractic care can help improve stress levels and immune function, decrease pain from injury (acute or chronic), relieve back pain and chronic headaches, and can improve long standing patterns of asymmetry and alignment, making it a perfect compliment to your movement practice.
Dr. Juliet approaches each patient as unique and individual. She tailors each treatment to the whole body, assessing movement, alignment, and function. She creates a specific treatment plan to improve each patient’s ability and function in all areas. Dr. Juliet practices diversified chiropractic technique (Thompson drop, activator technique, and manual therapy), with a heavy focus on sacral occipital technique (SOT). SOT is a gentle and effective approach to alignment. It is a system of adjusting patterns in the body - not just single body parts - which addresses the whole body and its function.
What happens during the first chiropractic appointment?
You will need to fill out some paper work regarding your health history and the chief complaint for which you will be seen. We can email this to you to fill out before your appointment or you can come 10 minutes early and fill it out at the studio. Your first visit will consist of a complete health history and the history of your current health concerns. This will be followed by a complete exam which includes blood pressure, neurological exam, orthopedic tests, checking range of motion, and muscle testing to determine the source of the issue and to form the best treatment plan. Once Dr. Juliet has identified the cause of your health problem, she will begin care by administering adjustments and/or soft-tissue therapies. An "adjustment" is the specific manipulation of any joint in the body which has abnormal movement patterns or fails to function normally. The adjustment can be given by hand or instrument (activator), and consists of applying pressure to the joint areas that do not move properly within their normal range of motion. You may also receive personally tailored take home exercises to assist with strengthening and balancing muscle groups that may need it. In addition to treating the spine, Dr. Tablak treats shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees, feet and the Temporomandibular joint (the jaw). Dr. Juliet's goal is to have you feeling better and back to your regular activities in as few visits as possible!
