Help end local hunger!
Join us for Tom's 6pm Pilates & Yoga Progressions class on December 1, a donation class to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. Center of Balance will donate 100% of the money collected for class — plus any additional contributions — to help feed low-income children, adults and seniors in our community.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties has been providing services to the community since 1974. They are the single largest nonprofit provider of food to low-income households in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties and are the second largest food bank in the country, based on pounds distributed per person in poverty.
In fiscal year 09-10, Second Harvest served an average of 231,311 people per month. That was an 11% increase over the previous year. The majority of people they serve are seniors and low-income families with children. Now more than ever their services are needed to ensure that those being negatively affected by the economic downturn and high food prices have access to the healthy food they need to feed themselves and their families.
Second Harvest can leverage each dollar received better then the average consumer thanks to their deep relationships with growers and food suppliers. And a gift to Second Harvest extends far beyond our warehouse walls to the more than 700 non-profit agencies and distribution centers in the Bay Area. 95¢ of every $1 donated goes directly toward programs that feed hungry people.
Class Donation & Registration Info
Space in class is limited, first come first served. If you'd like to pre-register, please call Center of Balance at 650-967-6414.
