The Program (taught at Center of Balance) The Center of Balance & Physicalmind Institute Program has key courses
leading to Pilates Certification:
Repertoire Integration is a teacher training prep course for students who are planning to take Concentration 101 Teacher Training, or for those who are interested in expanding their
understanding of the equipment repertoire. This course is not required for Concentration 101, but strongly recommended.
Initiation 101 is a 15-hour course taught over 3 days. Professionals will learn the foundation for teaching Pilates Mat classes
using the original exercises developed by Joseph Pilates. Students who pass the course and final exam receive a certificate of
completion. To become certified in Pilates Mat, successful completion of Initiation 201 is required.
Initiation 201 is a
15 -hour weekend workshop to certify professionals in Pilates Matwork and Standing Pilates exercises.
Concentration 101 is a 13-week course (approx 450 hours), including class work, practice, assistant teaching, observation and homework—to prepare students for the final certification exam.
Concentration 201 is an advanced version of Concentration 101, and mastery of the basic equipment exercises is a pre-requisite.

Repertoire Integration Teacher Training Prep with Kristin Goldsmith & Owen GradyFridays 2:30-4:30pm Meets 5/11, 5/18, 5/25, 6/1, 6/8, 6/22, 6/29, 7/13
Integrate the Pilates equipment repertoire where it matters most ... your body! In this 8-Week
Immersion program, we'll review and refine the fundamentals, essential and intermediate exercises on the Reformer, Chair and Wall Unit. This course is for students who are preparing to take the Pilates
apparatus teacher training, or for those who are interested in expanding their understanding of the equipment repertoire. With the extended 2-hour sessions, there will be more time for questions and
detailed review, helping you to integrate the exercises more deeply and get the most out of each class! For optimal learning, there will be a maximum of 5 students per instructor. This course is not required
for Concentration 101, but strongly recommended.
Prerequisites
To register, you must have a minimum of 1 year Pilates experience, and taken at least 10 private sessions on the equipment. No
Pilates instructors (equipment) please! This course is not appropriate for people with acute injuries. Tuition $500 To Register

About Kristin & Owen Kristin Kristin is certified in Pilates Mat and Equipment by the Ellie Herman Studio, Elvis "the Pelvis" and MasterStretch. She began her
career in movement at the age of six in tap shoes and a pink tutu, and has been teaching since 2001. Her goal as an instructor is to
help students gain stability, grace and awareness of breath through Pilates, Yoga, and resistance stretching. She encourages students
to bring these skills into daily activities for improved coordination, posture and balance. Kristin is greatly influenced by the work of her
mentor, Tom McCook, and also incorporates elements of the PhysicalMind method of Pilates, Franklin Method and Forrest Yoga into her teaching style. Owen
is a certified Pilates, Elvis "the Pelvis" and MasterStretch instructor, former competitive cyclist and Nordic skier. He completed
Center of Balance and PhysicalMind Institute's Pilates teacher training with Tom McCook. He has practiced both Iyengar and Ashtanga
Yoga extensively and trained with senior instructors including Manuso Manos, Ramanand Patel, and Nikki and Eddie Modestini. Owen's

Initiation 101

Learn to teach the 25 Classic Pilates exercises by applying the Institute's 16 Fundamentals. Mat certification requires that you successfully complete both Initiation 101 and Initiation 201. Dates and Times Friday: 2pm - 5pm

Comprehension of the Mat exercises from previously attended Mat classes (minimum 20) and the Institute video BodyMind Matwork, knowledge of functional anatomy

This course certifies instructors in the complete Matwork, including all of the advanced exercises. Experience the 10 new Advanced Fundamentals. Finish with 21 of the Classic mat exercises reconfigured to
Standing Pilates®. These sequences require an evolved technique use of the deeper core muscles of the pelvic floor, transversus abdominus and multifidus (third level). Mat certification requires that you successfully complete both Initiation 101 and Initiation 201.

Concentration 201 with Tom McCook2007 TBD A 1-Day course to focus on functionally integrating the 3rd level of Pilates technique. Standing Pilates exercises transferred to the
Reformer, Cadillac, and the Chair, created to focus on function, and emphasizing balance. Teaches the Third Level of technique which
finds deeper connections in the pelvis, back, legs and feet while decreasing effort and increasing ease. Teaches you how to create new exercises on your own. This is the course to take Pilates teaching to the future.
